Pickl.art: A Weave on Demand by GlitchTextiles

Effortlessly transform your photos, artwork, designs, and logos into digital weavings.

Pickl.art is a new project developed by Phillip David Stearns, founder of GlitchTextiles.

“Pickl.art envisions a world where people are empowered to create for themselves, the worlds they dream of. To support this vision, Pickl.art strives to make commercial weaving as accessible as the Internet.”

At Pickl.art, everyone is a creator. Easy to use tools make it possible for you to customize your own blankets, pillows, tote bags, and wall hangings. All you have to do is upload your artwork and select a product. Once you place your order, it’s woven on demand.

Weave on demand is a different kind of on demand service. Rather than printing on the surface of objects, your design is woven into the material itself.

Artwork by Marco Salvi woven with Pickl.art

In 2011, artist Phillip David Stearns ordered his first woven glitch art blanket from Pure Country Weavers. The results were so inspiring that he went on to found GlitchTextiles to continue exploring the intersection of digital art and textile design.

For more than 10 years, GlitchTextiles has been working with Pure Country Weavers, a US based textile mill in North Carolina. This partnership is what powers Pickl.art.

As an artist working with digital media, electronics, and software, Phillip envisioned a platform where other artists could transform editions of their digital/generative pieces into woven artworks. Since February of 2023, he has dedicated himself to realizing that vision.

The result is Pickl.art.

It’s not just limited to digital artists! Anyone can weave their 2D artwork from .jpg or .png formats. The easiest way to get started is to use our new product creation wizard. No account signup necessary.
